I have purchased 2 of these batteries from an online auction site and the results I've had are happily unexpected. I have batteries from another battery manufacturer with the same ratings (3900mAh) and the UPSTART BATTERIES, COMPLETELY DOMINATE THEM with over an hour of extra runtime and a price point that allows me to get 2 UPSTART BATTERIES for almost the same price as 1 of their (now former) competitor’s batteries. In my opinion, these are BY FAR the best battery out there for the price.
I have included results of my testing below so you can have some idea of what to expect from these batteries…
-Sony HDR-SR11 camcorder (I used two different camcorders with the same settings)
-NIGHTSHOT MODE, AE SHIFT (ON), WB SHIFT (ON), STEADYSHOT (ON), X. V. COLOR (ON)…all other functions are OFF.
-LCD screen open
-Recording at HD FH (16Mbps) with 5.1 Sound enabled
-CONTINUOUS RECORDING FROM FULL CHARGE TO CAMCORDER AUTO-SHUTDOWN.
The first test yielded a continuous recording time of 5:30:00 (minimum) for both batteries. *
The second test yielded a continuous recording time of 5:40:00 (minimum) for both batteries.+
The third (and final) test yielded a continuous recording time of 5:47:00 (minimum) for both batteries.=
*There were very slight runtime variations between the two cells, but they weren’t enough to cause great concern due to the testing method I used (+/- 15 minutes…that works out to a difference of just over 6% runtime between the two cells).
+There were no variations in run time with this test since I stopped the test at the 5:40:00 mark. The only difference with this test is that I used the same charger to top off both batteries. Both cells read 0min on the battery indicator in the camera.
=There were very slight variations, once again due to the charging conditions I used (a 9 minute difference, or a variability between cells of 2.5% over entire run time)
